Baby food

I went forth with great trepidation and made OUR FIRST BABY FOOD! :) This is something I've been looking forward to for a long time! I love baking things and learning how to cook new things and this is just such a fun combination of both! I baked some squash last night and pureed it, poured it into ice cube treys, and then popped them out into freezer bags with the date/product on it!! I know that Landon won't be able to use this for a while, but it doesn't take up much space in the freezer and I figured I should make some while I still have the time! When he's old enough I will be busy with school and I know I will be wanting to soak up every minute I have with him once I'm home! So anyway. I think I will try some more in the next couple weeks! Any suggestions that make it easier or recipes I could try?? :)

  1. Yay for making foods! I haven't yet but I need to. I have the trays ready to go. Bella has had sweet potatoes and apple sauce so far. She has liked both. I want to do avocado next and some banana. Those will be easy to just mash up and thin out though. Do you just puree? Do you like the texture? I have heard some people say that it can still be too grainy so they pass it thru a strainer also. Can't wait to hear about your adventures in food!

  2. I know huh?! I'm so excited. Haha. I just used a food processor. But I need to make bigger batches for it to be able to work. Haha. I thinned it a little using some water, but the book I have said that they recommend thinning mainly once it's getting ready to be served. SO I will thin further with milk when I actually feed it to him. The texture was super smooth! I'm so excited! Haha.
