Father's Day

We had a great Father's day this year. Landon's gift to his wonderful first-time father was to sleep through the night! He has done it before, but not consistently like lately! We put him to bed at 10 and he didn't wake up until 830! It was amazing and felt so good to have some solid sleep! Then we went to church a little early with Aunt Lala and Uncle Tah (they came up and spent the night Sat. It was so good to just hang out with them and hear about their Europe trip!!) because mom had to practice for worship team. So Landon hung out with them and my mom and dad (who also came up to hear Matt preach and eat Father's day lunch with us) while we all worshiped together. Then I sat down and we all got to listen to Matt do an AMAZING job giving the Father's day message as a first time Dad. Everyone swarmed us at the end and told us what a great job he did and I couldn't agree more. I was bursting with pride! Not only because he was so convicting and dead on with what God was wanting him to say, but also because as he's up there talking about our sweet boy and "how to be the perfect father" (the title is deceiving) all I could think about is how amazing he's been. He's such a wonderful daddy and is just so loving, sweet, and patient with Landon. Here are some of the things that come to mind when I think about the great Daddy he is.
* sleeping with Landon on the couch in the mornings when he was new and didn't like his crib that much in the mornings (he mostly did this so that Mom could get a few hrs of much needed rest!)
*his willingness to change and wash diapers, feed, cuddle, swaddle, bathe and do anything else Landon could possibly need at any point and time.
*His ability to settle Landon down anytime that he is upset or uncomfortable
*How sweet it was for him to always be getting me snacks and water in the night while I was nursing Landon every couple hours and how nice it was to have company in the middle of the night. He would lay on Landon's big rug and talk with me quietly as we tried to establish a bed time routine and get him back to sleep.
*How wonderful it is to have a dad/husband that is always looking to see what needs to be done around the house and with our sweet boy and always takes the initiative to do what needs to be done. He is so helpful and thoughtful.

We love you so much Babe. Thank you for all the you do for your family and for working so hard so that I could be home these last 4 months with our precious boy and so that I don't have to go back to work FT anytime soon. You are the best daddy any boy could ask for and I have so much fun being a parent with you! You are my bestest friend and I've never had respect for anyone the way that I do for you. You live a lifestyle that makes God proud and that sets a great example for our son. You are the spiritual head of our household and keep us together. Thank you for being the man of integrity that you are.

So after church we went over to the Shire's house for lunch and presents. We had a blast eating and talking all together as one big family. My wonderful friend Amanda and her little boy Elijah came over and played with us. It was so great to have them there and spend time all together. :) We are so thankful for all the wonderful friends and family in our life!! Afterward we came home and took a family nap. The boys were exhausted and I needed to catch up on dumb TV shows. Then we ate breakfast for dinner (we love to do that!) and watched the Book of Eli. It was such a wonderful day where we got to celebrate all the great Dads in our lives. After our movie we set Landon up on the couch to try to wake him up so that he could eat and go to bed. He refused. These pics and video are of him being totally exhausted and impossible to wake up after such a fun and eventful day. :)
