Mom's classic quiche

Hey ladies! Here's that recipe ya'll asked for!! :)
It's my wonderful mother-in-law's!!

4 - 8 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
2 - 3 T. chopped onion
1/2 - 1 cup steamed vegetables, well-drained (spinach, broccoli, or cauliflower)
1 C. grated cheese (swiss, cheddar, or monterey jack)
4 eggs
1 C. evaporated milk
dashes of salt
dashes of pepper
dashes of nutmeg
9 -10 inch deep dish pie shell

Sprinkle bacon, onion, vegetables (squeezed of any extra water), and cheese into pie shell. Combine eggs and milk with wire whisk, until well blended. Add seasonings. Pour egg mixture over ingredients in pie shell. Bake at 350 for 35 - 45 minutes, or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Let stand & cool at least 15 minutes before serving, so it firms up.

Variation: substitute ham or chicken or turkey for the bacon (about 1/2 - 1 C.)
