Cloth diapers...

So we are doing a little experiment. My friend Pam gave us one of her Bum Genius all in one diapers to try out this cloth diapering business and see what we think. We tried it last night and I was pretty impressed I must admit. I am the BIGGEST skeptic and doubter these things have probably ever had. I've gone from thinking they are disgusting and a huge mess to possibly considering taking the HUGE investment and plunge and beginning to use them. That's a big turn around huh? Anyway. We put it on him at 9 PM and he had it on until he woke us at 3 AM. No leaks..no signs of even close to leaking...The clean up wasn't bad at all...so is it worth it? I've heard the average savings is 1200$ per kid. That's significant...and it wouldn't kill me to help out the Earth a little right? Any advice??

    a very kind (possibly semi-crazy) stranger sent my friend with sextuplets a box of like 50 cloth diapers. really nice ones. after laughing at the notion of using cloth diapers on top of simply surviving with 6 babies, she passed them on to me. if you decide to go that route, let me know and i may have some to pass your way.

    and yes, it does save money. but the whole stinky-ness of it all can be overwhelming. i didn't put them on my kids at night or if i went somewhere. good luck!

    What kind are they? Ya. We were thinking not for traveling...but for other times. :) You would be like a godsend if you were really able to do that! We've been agonizing over how to afford them

    i dont know what you are doing about daycare but i know most childcare facilites dont take babies that are exclusively cloth diapered. that might mean sunday school too, but i dont know. i think you are amazing if you decide to go that route. it seems like way too much work. the only thing i might consider is the cloth diapers with the dispoable inserts. that way it is not nearly as bad for the enviornment but still do-able.
