Well, we are almost done breastfeeding now. It's very sad for me. If Landon enjoyed nursing even a bit I would've been willing to go longer, but he's not. Basically all the bottles from going back to work combined with a semi-traumatic biting session = Landon no longer latching. It's prob been two weeks now that he has been unwilling. We've tried over and over, but it just makes him angry..so I gave up. It was heart-wrenching being rejected like that. But, what was I going to do? Tell him how hurt I was?! Haha.
So for the past 2 weeks I've been pumping, which is not a good thing. I developed "pump resistance" a few months back where I can only let down about 40% of the time...so now I'm drying up b/c I have no baby to completely empty me and a pump that my body hates. So the weaning process began. I'm now down to two pumps a day, but we will be done soon.
So since I loved breastfeeding so much and it was such a special time to me ;( I thought I'd relive all of the things Landon and I worked through with nursing!! I'm pretty proud we made it 10 months and especially because of some of the things we survived!
It started with the C-section and being separated when he was first born.
Then I have raw and bloody nips from an incorrect latch that I couldn't feel from being on so many pain medications.
Then came the shield, which he became hooked to and then never nursed again without!
THen the 3 cases of mastitis, and the 6 months of thrush!!
But seriously, this has been one of my favorite things that I've ever done in my life. And I can honestly say that it was worth every single trial and so much more. It was priceless. I love you Landon Reed and I'm so glad we were able to make it as long as we did! :)
Now I just need to have another so I can start over :)
