Lucas Reed - 5 months

Our precious little man. We just love our baby Lucas around here! The kids, us, our families. He just brings such joy and light to our lives. This has been the easiest transition for us I think as far as adding another baby goes. He just belongs here and we almost just need him somehow. God is SO good!

Health - I'm SO happy to report nothing but pure happiness in the health department. Lucas has stopped spiting up blood. Stopped having blood in his stool. He's super happy. He's even been sleeping through the night most nights!!! We had a rough reflux flare up when those bottom teeth started coming through. But it's calming down now. Please pray for us this coming month. It's going to be a rough one. We start more intensive feeding therapy, we may be losing his insurance, and I'm nervous about a possible gap in insurance meaning he will not be on his meds for a bit. We also have been instructed by our GI, Pediatrician, AND feeding therapist that we need to start solids at 6 months. There's new research about it apparently and the swallowing practice is supposed to help his muscles develop more and more so he will be choking less and less. We have been cleared to skip a scope, not see a GI again till August, and go down to feeding therapy just once a month! I'm thrilled with the progress we've made.

Schedule

730 - meds
8 - Eat 6 oz
915 - nap
1130 ish - wake and eat 6 oz
130 - nap
330 - wake and eat 6 oz
530 - catnap
6 - wake and eat 3 oz
7 - bath and jammies and eat 3-4 oz
745- bedtime
930/10- we do a dreamfeed before we head to bed.

He's been sleeping really well for naps and nights once this reflux flare ended. :)

Eating - has been SO much better. Once we stopped the thickener he began eating again. He eats 25-30 oz on any given day. How much just depends on how much he's been choking. Once the choking begins he is done. Sometimes it doesn't happen at all. Other's its like an oz in.

Growth - Lucas is getting SO big!!!! He's 15 lbs now. He has super cute chunk on his legs and cheeks and chin. I love it. He's in size three diapers during the day and overnight size 3s for the night. He's in all 6-9 month clothing and his sleepers are starting to get short! He still fits in 3 month shorts. He has a teeny waist/hips/butt like his siblings. ;) He's still rolling belly to back a ton. But gets stuck trying to roll back to belly. He's also sitting up! Not 100% yet. But he's rocking it.

Likes - Our sweet boy likes a lot of things. Playing with his siblings, bath time, when we sing to him, family walks. He loves sitting at the table with us! We put his highchair up there so he can play and watch us while we eat dinner together. It felt weird not having him with us even if he's not big enough to eat yet. He likes his lovey a lot and this elephant teething toy that my mom bought him from Walmart. It's probably his favorite toy right now! He really loves being tickled and talked to and being naked. If he's unhappy you can just strip him down and he's thrilled with life!

Dislikes- He still hates the wind. Doesn't like cool water like the pool :) He has gone through some separation anxiety type stuff the last week or so. He's fine playing by himself until he sees me. I'm such a sucker too. I pick him up and snuggle him every time. He's just TOO sweet not to!

Lucas has started really laughing this month and that's been super fun. He's so go with the flow. He's super happy any time we are around people or doing anything social. He's starting to get ticklish on his chest and belly and that's super fun! We love him so much and are so thankful to have him in our lives!
