Bye Bye Paci

This should've been written in March! But Laney was still quite sick then...so it's being written now :)

Right around Landon's 2nd birthday he started chewing on his pacis. He got his 2nd year molars in a weekend and destroyed 3 pacis. Through that month around his birthday we threw away paci after paci. Suddenly we couldn't find anymore. We were down to ONE. Then that next morning we went and woke him up and guess what? It was toast. We asked him if he was ready to be big since he hurt all his pacis and he said "YES!" very enthusiastically. So we told him to chuck his paci and that for naptime when we got home he wouldn't have a paci. He said OK. I started dreading 1 PM at that very moment :)
130 rolled around (yes, we kept him up a little later to make sure he was ready for bed!) and he was NOT happy that we had no paci for him. We talked about it more and put him in his big boy bed and walked out. He cried for a little while. Then just played and didn't sleep for an entire nap. He had never ever skipped a nap until that day! It was a whole month of some funky sleep (waking a bit early, taking a long time to fall asleep, singing for long periods of time by his door : ) ) but he adjusted. Since then he's gone right back to being an incredible sleeper :) If I had to do it again I think I'd either wait until he was older and understood a bit better OR not have started with one in the first place. It wasn't horrible, but it did upset him and I felt bad for that. Hopefully we'll get it right with the next one (meaning the 3rd, Laney's already a paci addict).

I think pacis are the cutest and once Landon gave it up I felt like it made him a big boy. So here are my last paci pics
