Oh man. We have had a week!! So here's our story and a little about our trip....
Monday we went on antibiotics for some kind of a possible infection. It may have been causing some regular contractions that were not painful. Our wonderful midwife (Stephanie) thought that we would try letting the antibiotics work their magic and hopefully stop our contractions.
Thursday morning she called in some Nifedipine (sp?) to help calm the contractions. I took my first two doses and unfortunately it didn't seem to be helping at all.
Fast forward to Thursday night. The contractions have been regular the whole week at 10 min apart and are finally starting to pick up in strength. Still not painful, but these are not your little braxton hicks either. So we call Stephanie and she wants to check me and monitor them at the hospital. (I just KNEW she was going to say that!). So of course I was bumming. I've told Matt that just walking into a hospital closes up my cervix so I figured that would be good at least ;)
Off we went. We checked in around 8 and there was our dear friend Beth ready to take care of us! That's when I knew, God really wanted us to be here and needed us to take a step of faith and trust Him and trust Stephanie. So in we went. We did all the norm stuff and hooked up to the monitors. Sure enough. The monitors are showing my contractions 9 min apart. After a while of watching them they gave me a shot of terbutaline and that did it. They stopped seemingly instantly. We were so thankful to have some peace and know that our little girl is ok and get those things under control! We were also so thankful to have Beth and Stephanie there to take such good care of us and make us feel so comfortable :)
So now it's Saturday and I'm still having 3-4 contractions an hr that are very mild compared to what I was having. I'm taking that Nifedipine stuff every 8 hrs (I get to wake up at 330 every morning to take it haha) and we are really praying this will just nip everything in the bud. We've had a very relaxing weekend and I'm so thankful that Laney is staying put for now :)
Just a fun little fact. Laney has already been in a hospital 5 times and as long as nothing goes wrong she will have visited one 6 times in my belly before even making her arrival! * She will have been to 3 births with me, 1 post-partum visit, 1 tour, and 1 trip to L&D*
